Club Mark

On Monday 10th May, we welcomed the Mayor of Dudley, Dudley Sports Development team and British Cycling officials for the presentation of our Club Mark award. Further information below.
This was timed to coincide with the first Go-Ride session and it is hoped that participants past and present of the Go-Ride scheme can attend. There will be a buffet, non-alcoholic drinks and a unsupported roller riding display.

Awards 2010:

Club Member of the Year was awarded to Kevin Payton for his contribution to cyclo-cross races and training and Go-Ride as a coach.
Life Membership was awarded to Isla Rowntree for her national and international achievements as a rider and her immense efforts to make the Saturday morning and Wednesday night rides a success, also for her coaching at cyclo-cross training and Go-Ride.
Norma Fardon holds Wags Kup for an act of crass stupidity: in her desire to clean up the local towpaths, leaned too far into the canal to retrieve a discarded bottle and joined it!

Club Mark Accreditation

In January we gained Club Mark accreditation. Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.

Sport England recognises and values the commitment made by sports clubs to develop high quality, welcoming environments for young participants. The development of clubs that encourage young people to take-up sport, improve their talents and give them the option to initiate and maintain life-long participation in sport is an essential part of our work to support the sporting infrastructure in England.

This will now enable us to further develop cycling in the Stourbridge and Dudley area to the benefit of local school children and adults. We can now expect support from and work with the national cycling body, British Cycling, local authorities and government, as we support our own partners.
