The
2009 Go-ride coaching sessions kicked off on Monday May 11th.
The venue was the same as last year - The Wordsley
School, Brierley Hill Road, Buckpool.
If you have children, grandchildren, or have friends and neighbours
who have children then encourage them to come along and give
it a go in 2010!
Coaching
update September 2009
2009 coaching has now finished, there were 9 sessions during the
summer held at Wordsley school and once again have been very
successful. Grass track racing formed a large part of the
sessions plus rides in the woods behind which were the participants
favourite part of the evening.
Riders who attended
regularly made huge improvements in both their fitness and
skill levels which was clearly evident, with some riders showing
excellent bike handling and determination to be the fastest
around the grass track.
21 New children attending and 4 returning from the year before.
There have been several follow up rides that have had between
4 and 9 people on. All of these have been starting on selected
Saturdays from the Bonded Warehouse.
2 of the Go Ride children have now successfully been out on
proper club runs.
We are now planning to recruit 2 more coaches, update the
CRB checks and first aid training. A key milestone is to get
club mark accreditation (something the committee is now pushing).
More follow up rides will come, a new parental consent form
will allow better flexibility in getting children out and
we are planning on how to integrate young people successfully
into club rides.
We are now about to start laying the foundations for next
years activities, details of which will follow shortly, but
are certainly going to be exciting!!!
A big thank you to everyone involved in the delivery of the
sessions and the support from club members and parents alike.
The Go-Ride attendees came to a presentation evening held
at the Oakfield Centre on Monday September 28th.
Here all riders were presented with a certificate for their
achievements and a small prize.
