The Stourbridge Cycling Club were well represented in Sunday's Cyclo Cross held at Sanders Park, Bromsgrove. The biggest field of the day was for the Junior, Veterans and Ladies race which had 93 finishers.

Isla Rowntree confirmed her good form in winning the Ladies category to score her third win of the season. Isla also finished 14th overall in the event.

Tom Payton (15) competed against strong National Standard riders to finish 4th overall and 3rd Junior in the same race. Tom's father Kevin also competed finishing 22nd overall having faded after a strong start.

Terry and Carolyn Rowntree made it a family occasion by riding the same event as daughter Isla. Both finished with Terry taking 3rd place in the Super Vets category.

Earlier in the racing programme Hannah Payton(12) rode in the youth category finishing 3rd in the girl category.

The principal event of the day saw Tim Goodall and Matt Bowker finish in 24th and 33rd places respectively. Winner was former National Cyclo Cross Champion Steve Knight.

On the road the club achieved a rare double in the annual Bully Beef 25km event held on a  course outside Stratford-upon-Avon. The race is reserved for riders who served in Egypt in the Armed Forces during the period 1941 to 1956. Alan Colburn (75) won the event with a fine 44.45 ride to take the coveted Trophy. Les Archer was persuaded out of racing retirement and finished in second place with a 46.49 ride. Thanks to a generous handicap allowance Les also won that category and with it the Vic Ginger Trophy.

Following the event both riders together with wives attended the Fraternity of Buckshee Wheelers Annual Lunch and Prize Presentation at Kings Coughton, Alcester.

Drew Parker of Stourbridge CC rode at Bridgnorth downhill race amongst the country's top downhill racers. Full report and results.
