Racers meeting 8th February 2010

Postby Roger Allen » Wed Jan 27, 2010 7:06 pm

May I suggest we have a racers meeting at the clubroom on 8th February. For discussion: the clubs promotions for 2010, progress report, request volunteers to help, riders. Training programme, when we will train and how. Race programme, favourite events to enter, our approach to entering road races & time trials. Any other business. All welcome both racers and non-racers, encouragement is needed for those playing with the idea of racing for the first time.
I look forward to seeing as many people as possible there. Come along and throw your ideas into the ring - and take some new ones away with you!

There was a pretty good turnout of potential racers, thanks to all who attended.
The conclusions from the meeting were that:
for racing: Suggested races can be posted on the forum with riders stating if they are going to enter. Additional discussion can take place at the clubroom on Monday nights.
for training: Saturdays - the normal 0830 ride from the Summerhill although this is not a training ride as such, merely a good workout. Saturdays meeting place as discussed at the meeting 8.30, 44 miles, same for Sundays but a longer route, around 70 miles. Thursday evenings, 7.15 Lidl bottom of Brettell Lane. This meeting place and route will change in April.

Lee has kindly provided a spreadsheet of local BC league events, WM and S Staffs, can be seen on the racing page: http://www.stourbridgecyclingclub.com/racing.htm
There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count & those who can't.

It's been a month since the meeting, and it's obvious from the forum that there has been a great deal of activity eg training rides, reliability rides and so on. It's raising the profile of the club and the enthusiasm is fantastic to see. It looks like that side of things is organising itself
The other side is the voulnteers who said they would be prepared to do a job. Are we now in a position to know what roles are required and when they are needed?
Thanks
