Code of Conduct on road and off road

Postby The Paytons » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:23 am

As a member of Stourbridge CC you are expected to follow the code of conduct laid out in the club rules.

http://www.stourbridgecyclingclub.com/Official/code_of_conduct.html

This particularly applies when taking part in club rides or whenever you wear your club kit.
The club’s reputation (and therefore every other member’s reputation) is in your hands.

In particular I would highlight the following key areas.

ROAD
Rules of the road / Highway Code must be followed at all times
E.g. No more than two abreast and single file on busy narrow roads – USE COMMON SENSE
No jumping red lights.

Avoid confrontation – respect other road users, be polite. Do not use bad language or gestures.

The safety of everyone is paramount

OFF ROAD – Areas out of Bounds.

Please remember that the following areas are out of bounds as far as the club is concerned.

Wychbury / Round Hill Wood – privately owned land with no cycling access.

Kinver / Clent – National Trust owned – access only allowed via bridleways.
The area around the Kinver Hill Fort is a conservation area and access on a bike is strictly forbidden.

The club is in discussion with the National Trust and other land owners to widen access and your
co operation will have a key influence on this.

Please remember that it takes years to build a good reputation but only seconds to destroy it.

If anyone needs any further clarification then speak to myself or any other member of the committee.
