Roller racing

Postby Roger Allen » Tue Mar 02, 2010 3:35 pm

This winters roller racing concluded last night, the victor being Kevin Payton. Results here: http://www.stourbridgecyclingclub.com/Results/RollerLeagueResults2009_10.htm

11 competitors in total over 4 events compared to 23 riders for last year. A bit disappointing, nonetheless a spectacle on clubnights!

I propose a change for next year, a number of evenings where folks can turn up with their bikes and try it out without any competition pressures, just ride and get accustomed to riding on rollers. The aim being to ride unsupported. Towards the end of winter, maybe sometime in February, we have a high profile competition night to round it off, encourage as many as possible to have a go - one ride each, say 3000metres - 6 laps of the clock so more emphasis on endurance rather than speed to keep it safe.

Any thoughts?

Sounds good to me - I would love to try and just ride unsupported although it would be like a rhino on a tight rope

Loking at the results, its the only time I'm going to be level pegging with stefan

Maybe the location is wrong! Or the clubhouse should get a license :)http://mippin.com/mip/plus/story.jsp?&id=42033&c=-1&s=15&pv=1&sid=112273886&cat=Green
